To get to Elafonissos from Athens you have to turn south, enter the Peloponnese after you cross the Isthmus of Corinth,

climb the mountains of Arcadia, continue south to Laconia and the valley of Sparta, and before Cape Tainaron (one of the ancient Gates to Hades)

stop at the mouth of the bay of Neapolis. A ferry will appear and take you over to the island for 10 coins.

Skip the harbour head for Simos Beach and mingle with the beautiful people.

In September 2004 I traveled to America from Greece via London and visited several states.

My trip in America started and ended in NY where I used to live in the past.

This time I also visited Ellie’s Island the entry point for millions of Europeans (and others) into the United States. It was a very interesting site and museum.

Here I would like to note that this was my first trip where all the bookings with regards to hotels and transportation were made in advance via the internet , and although different countries cities and states were involved it all went really smoothly.

The only thing I could not hire on line was the car due to uncontrollable price variations.

August 2003 was a very hot month and I thought that the emerald shores of

Mt. Pelion on the east coast of Central Greece,

whose magical thick forests were the legendary home of the Centaurs,

would provide the soothing solution.

What started as a short trip ended almost a month later as a tour of the

eastern coast of Greece, from the green bays of the mountains of Thessaly

to the fjords of Chalkidiki peninsula, through the labyrinth of the Nestos River Delta

and all the way to the unvisited endless sandy coastline of Thrace.

The thousands of smaller or larger beaches offered the perfect accomodation…

Living in Greece in the winter provides you with the advantage

to use its mountain terrain for winter sports.

Skiing is one of them. On a good day you will have a sparkling experience.

Due to the proximity of the sea the views are breathtaking.

Here you will see action from the mountains of Parnassos in Central Greece (near Delfi, 3.30 hrs northwest of Athens)

Pertouli in Central Greece (near Meteora, 4.30 hrs north of Athens)

Mainalon in the Peloponnese, the southernmost ski facility in the country, 2 hrs south of Athens

and Falakro, in the north, near the town of Drama and just off the Bulgarian border 10 hrs northeast of Athens, where a skid on your skis

could take you to the wrong side of the border…

Berlin is one of the most historic and fascinating modern European cities.

Having been destroyed heavily during the war, it is a city full of surprises.

In December 2005 I spent some time just before Christmas and Berlin was in festive mood.

I must say that the temperature stayed between the marks of -10 and -5 C which is not exactly my cup of tea -

not even glouwine for that matter.

In October 2007 I visited the city of Constantinople where I used to work in the past.

I met with my good old friend Tony and together we had some classic moments.

The city has grown in size but not lost its character.

It is an exciting destination where west and east meet.

As the Chinese Olympics are coming up

a little reminder of the Olympic buzz.

Although in the middle of winter,

one can not stop thinking about the best moments of living in an Archipelago.
